What to expect when you come to class
Splat classes are relaxed, friendly and child-led. Some little ones dive straight in, some take their time, and some prefer to watch from your lap first. All of that is completely normal.

Warm welcome
6 themed trays
Warm water and flannels
Bubbles to finish
New to messy play?
Some children dive straight in, some use one finger, and some prefer to watch first. It is all welcome at Splat.
Your class, step by step
A simple, predictable rhythm helps children settle and helps grown-ups know what is coming next.
Welcome
Come in, settle down and take your time. There is no rush to dive straight into the trays.

Free-flow play
Children move between themed trays, painting and craft at their own pace. They can revisit favourites or watch for a while.

Wash and change
Warm water, soap and flannels are ready, so you can get cleaned up before heading home.

Bubbles and goodbye song
We finish together with bubbles and a goodbye song, giving the session a gentle, familiar ending.
A few things make messy play much easier
Bring these few bits and getting clean and changed afterwards is much easier.
Old clothes
Choose clothes you do not mind getting messy or stained.
Spare clothes
A full change of clothes is useful after enthusiastic play.
Socks for everyone
Adults and children need socks because shoes come off at venues.
Spare socks
Wet socks after class are no fun, so bring an extra pair if you can.
Wipes or towel
Useful for hands, faces and little clean-ups before you leave.
Bag for wet clothes
Something simple to carry messy clothes home in.
Will my child get messy?
Probably, yes — but how messy they get is completely up to them. Some children go all in, some just explore gently, and some prefer to watch first. It all counts.
Babies and younger children
Grown-ups stay close and support exploration. Babies, toddlers and young children can all join in in a way that works for them that day.
Allergies and safety
Sessions are nut-free, allergy-aware and supervised. Please tell Amy about any allergies or anything your child may need before class. Splat is allergy-aware, but not guaranteed allergen-free.
Photos and privacy
You are never expected to share photos of your child. If photos are taken for Splat, permission will always be checked first.

Different textures, tools and themes each week
Amy sets up themed messy play trays for children to explore freely. The exact trays change, so each class feels a little different while keeping the rhythm familiar.
