No pressure. No expectations. Just play.

What to expect when you come to class

Splat classes are relaxed, friendly and child-led. Some little ones dive straight in, some take their time, and some prefer to watch from your lap first. All of that is completely normal.

New to messy play?

Don’t worry if your child does not join in straight away. They might watch, cuddle, explore one tray, come back later, or get completely covered. Amy’s classes are designed to let children take things at their own pace.

How class works

Welcome

You’ll be warmly welcomed into class. Everyone sits on the mat, has a little chat about the week, and Amy does a quick register.

Clean up

When playtime ends, head to the cleaning station. Warm water, soap and flannels are ready for you, so you do not have to take all the mess home.

Everyone comes back to the mat for bubbles, sensory time and the goodbye song. It gives the class a gentle finish before heading home.

What to bring

A few things make messy play much easier

Spare clothes

Bring a full change of clothes for your little one.

A towel

Useful after water play or a very enthusiastic messy session.

Messy clothes

Dress your child in clothes you do not mind getting messy.

Socks for everyone

All venues ask shoes to be removed. Adults and children need socks, and spare socks are strongly recommended.

Please bring socks. All venues require shoes off and socks on, including adults. Spare socks are a very good idea because wet socks after class are no fun.

Wipes or a damp flannel are useful too, although Amy has warm water, soap and flannels available at the cleaning station.

Good to know

Allergies and safety

  • Sessions are nut free.
  • Materials are chosen to be taste-safe, but they are not intended as food.
  • Please tell Amy about allergies or anything important before class.
  • Splat is allergy-aware, but not guaranteed allergen-free.
  • Children must be supervised by their grown-up throughout.

Stay and play

Parent-and-child class

Splat is not a drop-off session. You stay with your child throughout and help them explore in whatever way works for them that day.

It is completely fine if your child wants to stay close to you, avoid certain textures, or spend most of the class watching before joining in.

Does my child have to get messy?
No. Some children dive straight in, while others watch, stay close to their grown-up or try one small thing at a time. There is no pressure.
Do grown-ups join in?
Yes. You stay with your child throughout the class. You can help them explore, reassure them, or simply be nearby while they play.
Do we really need socks?
Yes. All venues ask families to remove shoes and wear socks, including adults. Please bring socks for everyone, and spare socks are strongly recommended.
Can older siblings come?
Regular weekly sessions are designed for under-5s. Primary-age siblings may be able to join selected special events during school holidays or INSET days. Check the event details or ask Amy.
Will there be somewhere to clean up?
Yes. At the end of playtime, there is a cleaning station with warm water, soap and flannels ready for you.
What if I need to cancel?
Class pass credits are returned for eligible cancellations made more than 24 hours before class. Card payments for single dated classes are not automatically refunded if you choose not to attend. See the Cancellation Policy for full details.
