What happens in class

Each week has a different theme with a mixture of wet and dry messy play, painting and creative activities. Classes are relaxed and free flowing, so little ones can explore the trays in whatever order they like and at their own pace. We finish every session together with bubbles and our goodbye song.

Child-led play

Some children dive straight in, some watch first, and both are completely fine.

Themed messy trays

Scooping, pouring, squishing, painting and sensory exploring.

Grown-ups stay close

You stay with your little one and help them settle in at their own pace.

A calm finish

Sessions usually finish with bubbles and a goodbye song.

Who it's for: Suitable for little ones aged 6 months to 5 years. Perfect for confident explorers as well as little ones who prefer to watch, take their time and become familiar with a new environment before joining in. There is never any pressure to explore every activity. Your little one can enjoy messy play in whatever way feels right for them.

More details: You can choose to book an individual class or purchase a 6 class pass, giving you the flexibility to choose the classes that work best for you and your little one. Every week brings a brand new theme and a new selection of messy play activities to explore. Not every little one will jump straight into a tray on their first visit, and that is completely fine. Some children like to watch first, take in their surroundings and work out what is happening before they feel ready to explore. Coming along regularly can really help with this. As your little one gets to know the space, the routine and me, they can begin to feel more settled and confident. They can watch, explore slowly, return to their favourite activities or get completely stuck in. Messy play looks different for every child, and that is exactly how it should be. Dress for mess! Please dress your little one in clothes you do not mind getting messy and bring a full change of clothes and spare socks for them. I also recommend bringing spare socks for grown ups, as messy little feet have a habit of finding yours! There is a cleaning up area available at the end of class, so you can enjoy making messy memories and leave the big clean up to me.

Splat Messy Play classes are always held in the Jubilee Room at The Alexander Centre. When you arrive, please make your way into the centre and follow the signs for the Jubilee Room and leave your bugggies outside in the bar area.

There are several parking options close to The Alexander Centre. Many of the surrounding streets offer up to two hours of free parking, although please check the signage for any restrictions before leaving your car. Faversham Recreation Ground car park offers up to four hours of free parking, making it a handy option for attending the class. Alternatively, Central Car Park, Faversham is approximately a two-minute walk from The Alexander Centre. Travelling by public transport? The Alexander Centre is centrally located on Preston Street and is easy to reach by public transport. Local bus services connect Faversham with surrounding areas, including Sittingbourne, Canterbury and Whitstable, with bus stops nearby. Faversham railway station is also just a short walk from the centre, making it a convenient option if you’re travelling by train.

The Alexander Centre is completely step-free and easily accessible with pushchairs and buggies. There are toilets and baby-changing facilities on site. The Jubilee Room is one of our smaller, more intimate spaces, so we kindly ask that buggies and pushchairs are left outside the room, by the main bar area. This helps us keep as much space as possible inside the room for little ones and their grown-ups to explore and play comfortably.

Allergies & safety

Sessions are nut-free, allergy-aware and supervised. Please tell Amy about allergies or anything your child may need before class. Splat is allergy-aware, but not guaranteed allergen-free.
